FAQ

1) Can I have a framework-only try-in?

A: No, we do not provide framework-only try-ins. This is because a framework try-in does not provide an accurate representation of the final product. The metal and acrylic components are designed to work together in harmony. separating them creates a misleading assessment of the final denture. It’s like trying dry bread and deciding you don’t like the sandwich—you’re missing the full picture of how the final appliance will function and fit.

Additionally, requesting a framework-only try-in often results in unnecessary extra appointments. Since it’s not a true representation of the final product, it leads to more time spent in the chair for both you and your patient. By proceeding directly to a full try-in, we can save you time, avoid multiple appointments, and ensure the appliance is as close to perfect as possible for the final fit.

2) Why is there an analog surcharge?

A: We have optimized our processes for a digital workflow, which allows us to offer faster, more efficient, and precise results. When we deviate from this streamlined digital workflow to accommodate analog methods, it requires extra time and materials that are outside our standard process. This added time and cost result in the analog surcharge.

We do not charge separately for printed models, they are included for free as part of the digital workflow. The analog surcharge applies when we need to use traditional analog methods, which take more time and resources compared to our standard digital approach. Essentially, we’re just covering the extra costs incurred when deviating from our efficient digital workflow.

3) The occlusion is not correct, what should I do?

A: We can only work with the occlusion that is sent to us. If the occlusion is incorrect, we will need you to re-register it to ensure the proper fit and function of the appliance.

  • Feel free to grind any 3D printed teeth down on the denture to adjust the occlusion, as we will be redesigning the appliance anyway based on the new registration.

4) If there is a remake due to poor fit, am I liable for costs?

A: Generally speaking, yes, the responsibility for remakes due to poor fit lies with the data provider. We ensure that every case fits the model prior to leaving the lab, and if it fits the model, it serves as evidence that the issue likely lies with the data provided. However,

  • Remakes from scans are currently under 1% according to our records, making this an extremely rare situation.

  • Notably, remakes from impressions are significantly higher, as traditional impressions can introduce more variability and inaccuracies.

The accuracy of the digital workflow typically results in a high-quality, well-fitting appliance, so remakes due to poor fit are not an issue you are likely to encounter with digital scans.

5) If I take an impression then scan the impression and send you the scan, does this avoid the analog surcharge?

A: Yes, absolutely! This is a fantastic approach for cases that require an impression. By scanning the impression, you create immediate scan data that we can work with, which helps avoid the analog surcharge.

  • The advantage of this method is that the scan data is available right away, whereas traditional impressions can sit in the postage system for a couple of days, potentially drying out and shrinking, which can affect accuracy.

By sending the scan of the impression instead of the physical impression, you’re ensuring a faster, more reliable process that keeps your case moving efficiently through the lab.

6) Do you provide free postage labels?

A: Yes, we do! We use Royal Mail Tracked 24 for all our incoming shipments. Please note that each label is only to be used once.

  • If you don't have a physical label, simply email admin@optadentsolutions.com, and we will send you a printable copy. Once printed, please delete the label from your inbox to ensure it isn’t accidentally reused.

  • We also send physical postage labels out in boxes with the returned cases, so keep an eye out for them!
